A cluster of Esteve's Pincushion (Chaenactis stevioides) native to the Sonoran Desert blooms in spring. This wildflower is native to the Sonoran and Mojave Deserts and is in the daisy family. The stems can reach a height of 18 inches that are hairy. The flowers around the outside are open-faced and larger than the center flowers which are more tubular.
